As I developed this latest collection, I found myself returning again and again to one word—pursuit. What began as a series of studies centered around dogs and their laser-sharp focus has grown into something deeper. I became captivated by the instinctual drive that fuels the chase—not just in dogs, but across the animal kingdom.
This exploration led me into the Southern swamps, where I’ve started observing and sketching frogs, turtles, and alligators—creatures that embody pursuit in quiet, calculated, and often unexpected ways. These new studies are part of my ongoing preparation for a full collection debuting in New Orleans on May 3.
Each piece reflects my fascination with the movement, tension, and stillness that exist in the hunt. Whether it’s the sudden leap of a frog, the slow and steady crawl of a turtle, or the stealthy glide of a gator through dark water, these moments speak to the same instinct that drives a dog after a ball: the pursuit of something just out of reach.
